Now that there are no longer any direct trains from Torino/Turin to Modena, when you look up this journey on the Trenitalia website, you will see a plethora of journey options.
The fastest,with a journey time of between 2hr 40 mins and 2hr 55mins are those with; 'Changes:1' and a Fecciarossa or Frecciarossa 1000 train above a Regionale train in the 'Trains' column.

If you will be commencing your journey on the Torino Metro, it can make sense to head to Porta Susa in order to take these trains.

The city centre Metro stations are Re:Umberto and Vinzaglio.

There are also express Frecciabianca and InterCity trains from Bologna to Modena.
ShowMeTheJourney doesn't recommend taking those trains if you will be commencing your journey in Bologna - they're more expensive and the extra cost is difficult to justify for such a short journey.
Although if you will be heading to Modena from destinations further south and taking a Frecce train to Bologna, then taking one of those express services on to Modena can be a good option.
