(i) Booking ahead for these trains is strongly recommended irrespective if you want to travel 1st or 2nd class - seats can sell out days ahead on the most popular departures.

(ii) On the SJ website, journeys by these Snabbtåg trains can now be compared with the alternative service of Snälltåget trains

(iii) If you can be flexible with departure and arrival times, search through the day's trains to see which have the cheapest fares.

Trains leaving earlier/later on the same day MAY be 3 x cheaper than other departures.

(iv) Reservations are complimentary - seats will automatically be assigned when booking TICKETS for this journey.

Departing from Stockholm:

These Snabbtåg trains to Malmo normally depart from platform 11 at Stockholm C station -  the trains will pull into the station from the servicing depot around 5 mins before departure.

If you're not sure where to wait on the platform, to board the train by the door that’s closest to your reserved seat -  there is usually an SJ staff member on the platform who guides passengers and answers questions.

The jouurney from Stockholm:

This is a pleasing rather than particularly stunning journey - the videos were filmed on a train travelling in the opposite direction.

The first highlight comes around 18-20 mins into the journey when the train will cross the Igelsta Bridge at Soldertalje.

Then from either side of the train, there are frequent lakeside views as it heads south towards Lund.

The daytime  train service between Stockholm and Malmo is split between faster and more frequent Snabbtåg trains AND these Snälltåget trains.

Despite not being operated by SJ, the Swedish national rail operator, journeys by these Snälltåget trains can now be booked on the SJ website.

So prices can be compared with those Snabbtåg trains - these Snälltåget trains are usually cheaper.

The daily Snälltåget train departs from Stockholm C station at 16:35, while on certain other days of the week additional trains also depart at around 07:35 and 12:44 - so target those times when looking up this journey.

The train is usually scheduled to depart from Stockholm C station at 23:09, so target that time when looking up this journey.
