Rail pass users:
The rail pass reservation fees on the TGVs between Paris and Luxembourg are now the same price as on the TGVs, which operate solely within France, so they're not the bargain they used to be, sadly.
However, there are direct trains, on which no rail pass fees are charged, on from Luxembourg to both Liege and Koblenz.
So if you have a rail pass and will be travelling from Paris to south or east Belgium or northern Germany - taking these trains and connecting in Luxembourg, is a cheaper alternative to taking the Thalys trains between Paris and Belgium/Germany.

It is not a scenically interesting journey from Paris to Luxembourg.
What gives this journey its wow factor is that for some of this trip you'll be travelling at more than 300 km/h on the the fastest high speed line in France!
Around 13 minutes after departure the train will move on to the high speed line, then between Champagne-Ardennes and station and the point at which it will slow down to move on to the conventional railway, it will be travelling exceptionally fast.
