The station for the Zugspitzbahn mountain railway is adjacent to DB's main station in Garmisch and the trains give easy access to **the ski resort as well as there being some nice views from Germany's highest railway.
Sit on the left when the train departs from Innsbruck as there are stunning views over the valley as the train ascends from the city.
You will have to take our word for it because on both of the occasions we have made this journey it was pouring with rain - hence the lack of images.
Though Far And Wide had better luck with the weather as this journey is featured on its list of the Most Remarkable Train Journeys in Europe.
