The station in Siena is some distance from the historic town centre and the waking route isn't particularly obvious as the station is cut off the town by a bus station which is located over a busy road.
So taking the bus is the best option, routes/lines 3, 8, 10, 17, 77 all go to the stop named Piazza del Sale, but this is sill a 10-20 min walk to the Piazza del Campo in the heart of the town.
So if the timings suit take route/line 7, it typically departs every 30 mins, but it gets nearer to the heart of the town as it goes to a stop at Stufa Seca.
