Attributes of the train
The Wengernalpbahn is the world’s longest rack and pinion (cogwheel) railway and provides the railway route between Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen stations.
However, the WAB trains don’t provide a direct service between Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen along the full length of the line - connections between trains have to be made at Kleine Scheidegg station
Our full guide to WAB train service is HERE
WAB operates two types of trains - both of which are 2nd class only.
The older trains tend to be used on the trains from/to Grindelwald - a big plus of the older trains is that the windows can be opened when you want to take photographs.
The newer trains have more and larger windows (particularly in the centre coaches) - but they can't be opened.
This is one of more than 150 train guides available on ShowMeTheJourney, which will make it easier to take the train journeys you want or need to make. As always, all images were captured on trips taken by ShowMeTheJourney.
