New Wien/Vienna <> Frankfurt rail route via The Tyrol

A new long-distance railway route is always welcome, but when it also happens to be both highly scenic and operated by smart Railjet trains, then it only adds to the excitement.

The Railjet train which from Dec 12th will depart from Wien Hbf daily at 09:55 and also calls at St Polten, Linz, Salzburg (12:48) and Innsbruck (14:44), is having its journey through the gorgeous Arlberg Pass, extended beyond Bregenz at the Austrian border, all the way to Frankfurt (Main).
So it will also be calling at the Bodensee resorts of Lindau and Friedrichshafen on route to UIm, Stuttgart, Heidelberg and Darmstadt, prior to arriving in Frankfurt (Main) hbf at 21:52.

Departure times for travel in the other direction from Germany to Austria have yet to be confirmed,
but the multiple daily new opportunities for direct travel by rail include:

• Wien/Vienna, Linz and St Polten to/from Lindau, Ulm, Stuttgart, Heidelberg and Darmstadt.
• Innsbruck to/and from Stuttgart. Heidelberg and Darmstadt and Frankfurt (Main).
• Winter sports fans will have a new link between the Tyrolean alpine resorts including St Anton; and multiple German towns and cities. Stuttgart. Heidelberg and Darmstadt and Frankfurt (Main).
• This new service will also be the only train to and from Germany which will call at Attnang-Puchheim station where connections are available with trains which call at Bad Ischl, Hallstat and Gmunden.
