Book 1st class ticket journey tickets on DB or Trainline and your seat reservation is included - but they're optional when booking 2nd class tickets, or if you will be travelling with a 1st or 2nd class rail pass.
Opting to reserve is particularly recommended if you will be travelling during the summer, or won't be taking the first train of the day.

When making an online booking, check that you’re looking at booking info for the direct trains.
On the DB booking site look for journeys that have:
- 0 in the Chg. column
- EC (and only EC) in the Products column.
Use the earlier/later buttons to search for the cheapest ticket prices.
Trains departing at different times can be cheaper than others leaving on the same day, so you may need to look through the day's departures to find the cheapest fares.
Though it can be worth comparing ticket prices across the different agents on this route - tickets can be cheaper on the CD (Czech Railways) compared to the DB (German Railways) website - and vice versa.

Departing from Prague/Praha/Prag:
Between around 06:21 and 16:21 trains depart every other hour.
Then the final departure of the day at 17:32 is the newly introduced Railjet service.
Don't assume that you have to board the train at Praha hl.n.
These trains also call at Praha-Holešovice and this station has easier connections (by tram) from some parts of the city, particularly those by the river.
Though if you will be boarding at Holešovice, you should reserve, the trains can fill up on departure from Praha hl.n.
Final Destination: Hamburg or Berlin
All trains also call at: Děčín, Bad Schandau, Dresden,
Arriving in Berlin:
These trains will call at Berlin-Südkreuz before they arrive at Berlin's main station, Berlin hbf.
It's worth checking the lcoation of your final destination in Berlin - there are direct S-Bahn trains from Sudkreuz to FriedrichstraBe and locations to the east and west of the city centre.
