Oxenholme Lake District (Oxenholme (connect for Windermere))

The only means of accessing The Lake District from Oxenholme by public transport is to make a connection into the hourly trains which are heading to Windermere.
There are no bus routes from the station that head towards the main tourist areas of The Lake District.

The trains to Windermere depart from and arrive at platform 3, which is adjacent to platform 2, which is used by trains heading north from London, Birmingham and Manchester to Ednburgh and Glasgow.

Trains heading in the opposite direction from Scotland arrive at platform 1, which is linked to platform 3 by a subway under the railway lines.
This subway also links platforms 2 and 3 to the station’s entrance and exit, which are on platform 1.
The subway is accessed by slopes instead of stairs, but the slopes are steep enough for there to be a recommendation that passenger who would request assistance when encountering stairs, should also request assistance when using this subway.

If you want to use public transport to access the beauty spots in the southern part of the Lake District national park, from Windermere station there are buses on to Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere and Keswick.
