Lovely Inverness is a fairly small city, so it’s not too surprising that its charming station has a particularly convenient central location.
The river bank, castle and museum are all within a 10 min walk of the station.

For those making onward bus connections to locations not served by trains from Inverness, such as Fort William and Ullapool, the bus station is less than a five minute walk from Inverness railway station.
Turn right when exiting the front of the station and then take the second street on the right, which is named Margaret Street.

Inverness is also a terminus station, so all of the platforms (tracks) have level access with the concourse, the exits at the station are also step-free.
So if you will be connecting at Inverness into the trains which head north to the Kyle of Lochalsh, Thurso or Wick, making the transfer is straightforward.

Though some of the onward connections into the trains farther north aren’t particularly conveniently timed, so if that is the case when you’ll be making a journey, the Highland Hotel which is next to the station, is a very pleasant environment in which to have a drink or something to eat between trains.
